Dental Implants in Lake Jackson

Dental implants provide a strong foundation for replacement teeth that will look, feel, and function just like your original, natural teeth. Implants can be placed individually or can also be used to replace several teeth or as the foundation of a new bridge.

Dental implants are actually tiny titanium posts that are embedded into your jaw bone and then capped with a dental crown or dentures. This is a two-phase process that requires a healing period after the initial planting of the titanium dental implants. After the healing period, you will visit Coastal Periodontics for the insertion of your crowns or dentures. For patients that would like to be able to have use of their teeth during the healing time, there is the Teeth in a Day procedure to allow for temporary use until your crowns or dentures are ready.

After your initial evaluation, Dr. Tredinick will discuss the likely success of implants and the procedure that will work best for you. During your consultation, we welcome any and all questions you may have regarding dental implants and your dental implant procedure. When you are fully informed and comfortable with moving forward, we will then prepare you for a successful procedure.

Individual Implants

Individual dental implants can be placed if you’ve suffered an injury causing the loss of a tooth, or have lost a tooth due to gum disease or tooth decay. During this procedure, Dr. Tredinick will insert individual implants in the appropriate area(s) where teeth are missing.

After ensuring the implants have appropriately healed, Dr. Tredinick will cap the implants with a dental crown that has been molded from your original teeth, or insert your dentures.

Implant-Supported Bridges

There are times when several teeth in a row may need to be replaced. With a procedure similar to the individual implant placement, Dr. Tredinick will embed several implants to support a dental bridge. A dental bridge joins artificial teeth to adjacent natural teeth or implants to cover holes in your smile where multiple teeth have been missing.

The 2-step process is the same as for the individual implant. Your implants are placed, and then after the healing period, your new teeth will be inserted onto your implants.

Implant-Supported Dentures

In the past, dentures have been known to cause gum pain and are prone to slipping or moving while chewing. Due to these reasons, some patients with dentures have had to adjust their eating habits and their diets.

Dr. Tredinick can ease your discomfort and help you to again eat your favorite foods by replacing your dentures with implant supported dentures.

During this process, several implants are carefully placed. After placement, your dentures will merely snap on using special attachments. Theses new dentures will not cause pain and will not slip when chewing. This helps to increase your chewing power.
